Statewide Tornado Drill March 18 1 PM

March 15-21 is Michigan’s Severe Weather Awareness Week
A statewide tornado drill scheduled is for 1 p.m. this Wednesday, March 18; sirens in Perry will sound.
Use this week as an opportunity to learn, plan and practice what to do in the event of a tornado or severe thunderstorm. Talk to your family about safe shelter locations, and how you’ll communicate if cellular networks are down or power is out.

Nominating Petitions Available

Nominating petitions are now available at Perry City Hall for anyone interested in running for the following offices:

3 – Four-year terms for a Council Seat – Term expiring December. 1, 2030

1 – Two-year term for Mayor Seat – Term expiring December 1, 2028

Persons desiring to qualify as candidates for any elective office shall file a petition therefore with the City, signed by not less than fifteen nor more than thirty registered electors of the Clerk, not later than the date and time for the filing of nominating petitions for State and County offices. The form of the petition shall be substantially as that designated by the Secretary of State for the nomination of nonpartisan judicial officers. A supply of official petition forms shall be provided and maintained by the Clerk.

The last day to file petitions is Tuesday, April 21, 2026, 4:00 PM for the August 4, 2026, Primary Election.

NOTE: A Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, if more than two nominating petitions are filed for one of the above seats.  If no Primary is needed, the election will be November 3, 2026, General Election. The polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm.
