In 2007, a new Recognition Program was implemented to spotlight
businesses for their efforts in
bringing pride to their
establishment and the community.

Thanks to Jacob Mudge, brother of former Perry DPW Superintendent Chuck Mudge, and Bettinger Welding, the City
has a unique trophy (shown above) to present to monthly winners of the "Put Your Best Face Forward" competition.
Jacob is owner of Mudge Metal Craft in Florida.

The unique trophy is comprised of two skillfully crafted roses in a wooden barrel that makes a nice display
feature in the winner's establishment for the month in which they are deemed winner of the competition.

Each month during the spring and summer the Mayor or a Councilmember selects the winning recipient.

Judging is based on: Overall Appearance,  Swept Sidewalks, Clean Windows, Window Presentation,
Outdoor Flower Displays (weeded and watered) and absence of trash.

The monthly winner is awarded Bragging Rights, the Traveling Trophy to display in their place of business
for one month and is spotlighted in local newspapers.
